I can't argue, imagination is the first step for me

I agree, but you can just as easily turn it around...
"Creativity starts with an enriched imagination
Capable of igniting a solid foundation of fascination"

"Creativity starts with a solid foundation of fascination "for" the written word and is capable of igniting an enriched imagination.

Am taking a FREE course in Modern American Poetry (Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman working toward Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, Rae Armantrout) this month through University of Pennsylvania. What that kind of activity does is "stir my mind" which ignites me to write
less and less in my 'same old groove'.

I agree, but it can just as well start with a need...You know, good old American ingenuity.
