Re:
Well, adnohr, like I wrote, the main reason we open it anyway is to see if there is any information on these bogus letters that we would rather not have laying in the garbage. Identity theft is all too common these days, and that's why my shredder gets such a daily workout!

Re: JimmyA
I don't think I've ever done that, Glenn, but that could be awkward, especially if the contents were actually extremely important . . . and private! I guess it's better than arbitrarily throwing it away!

I'm guilty of throwing that kind of mail away without opening it too.

Even more bizarre and obviously these marketers are not aware we sometimes open our neighbors mail not realizing it was not addressed to us until we see the content?

Re:
My wife and I are like that too, luster, but with the physical mail, sometimes we're just not sure, and end up opening it anyway. Like I wrote, if it is garbage, well, that's what our shredder is for!

Re:
That, C C T, is a whole other arena! Our phone rings constantly with either no caller ID or number listed, and we just know it can't be anything important because they never, ever leave a message! Between junk mail and bogus phone calls, I just don't know sometimes . . .

Re:
Me too, Sam. Those I get at least two or three times a week! Talk about a waste of paper and postage! I wonder how many trees might be saved if those same credit card companies would just let the people who want their credit card contact them!

Re:
Absolutely, FSI. Most envelopes are deceiving anyway. You really won't know what's actually inside until you open it! If it's important, save it and work with it. If not . . . fire up the ol' shredder!

Re: JimmyA
That's one way to lick it, Wiley. People should still be somewhat discerning, but there really is an awful lot of junk mail floating around out there! Sometimes it's hard to keep up ( my shredder basket is usually full! ) Hope you had a great weekend too!

Re:
That's probably true too, Annicita. The more they try to entice you to open their mail, the less likely you might be to do it! Still, I open everything anyway, and shred the "garbage." My wife and I don't like to toss anything away that might have our names, address or any "special numbers" on them, just in case!

Well, Utah, you could be taking a big chance with those people! Don't want to piss off Uncle Sam, even unintentionally!

See, mariss? You got what I was trying to convey! There was nothing really important about my post, but the heading drew you in! I know some people would have opened and read it anyway, but again, I was just trying to make a point . . .

Re: Actually... I do that.
Well, Ciel, that takes care of the on-line mail. But what about the physical mail? I assume you open everything anyway, regardless of what's written on the outside of the envelope, and discard what you know is trash!

Re:
Well that's a little harsh, don't ya think TAPS? I've seen other people present similar headings to make a particular point, and nobody left such a comment! "Crying wolf" was the furthest thing from my mind, and I don't believe I would ever need to post something so important or vital that I would feel the need to do that. Sorry if you felt "deceived," and if you no longer feel the need or urge to "click" on my post, that's certainly your business. At least my posts are interesting . . .

Re: I love the mail that has a no stamp needed here for your reply.
I've never heard of that one before, Kabu, but that sounds like a good way to not only help the postal service, but stimulate the economy a little as well. I'll have to try that!

Help Jimmy I do sometimes because I know what is in there. What I really hate is the phone ringing and says private caller , when one knows darn well it is a charity or such.

Believe it or not I know just from the way a letter looks to tear it up unopened. Verify with Kabu. Ifit's from the government, telephone company or hydro bill, no problem but most of my invoices are e-mails. Have a good weekend pard.

Actually... I do that.
I disregard the spam mail, toss it straight in the trash. I know what come-ons look like, and they so piss me off... I don't need the aggravation, or to give them even the slightest encouragement that they might get through the astral airwaves, when someone opens their garbage.

You know what they say about the boy who cried wolf. Next time you do that, even if it is important, no one will click on you, and you will die the death of a rag doll.

I love the mail that has a no stamp needed here for your reply.
I leave that envelope empty and post it. The annoying company don't get anything fromme but they have to pay the postage on the empty envelope. now that helps the postage service to make money and keep working!
