Re: Taps
Well taps I always put them at the side of the fence, so timid folk will not be embarrassed by thinking that Big Brother is watching them, I suppose it is a bit exciting when they walk past to see if anything is on offer. I can see your problem,I know you would do the same sort of thing if you could

I love the idea of you always putting something out at the gate for your neighbors. It is such a wonderful thing and reading about you doing it makes me want to figure out some way to put something out somewhere for my neighbors to take--something that they would enjoy. I just don't know how to manage it. Things are different when your place is not your own and so many people come and go who don't really know each other. But, I love reading and thinking about you doing it.

I always get a bad feeling when the first thing you know of someone is that they want you to wipe your feet before you come in. I would take my shoes off if I had no holes in my socks. Perhaps those are the ones you put on table legs and chairs CC.

Flowers are exquisite and a joy to behold. Being nice to Archie until the grass is cut seems a good idea. I have never heard of stockings on table legs, how odd. Yes, I know the drill, give her a hug Bro.

great story and yes you keep that Archie in his place, he doesn't want to
be paid because he would have to be more reliable and less familiar.

Re: More than one kind of evasion in this story. Interesting...
Well Pat after the seond war celebration we kids were sitting outside and it began to rain we were shuffled into various houses and I remember seeing thick woollen stockings on the shiny table legs. Nearer to date my cousin spread newspaper all over the new flooring. he was afraid that his son's children would mark the floor, It was received badly. I have that photo somewhere of the celebration I was dressed as a ghost and had to take my mask off lest I frighten the babies.
