Re:

I'm not sure either, lionreign. That's why you could have knocked me over with a feather convincing me that Moscow was a "European" capitol! And again, I'm glad people see the simple logic involved in determining who the last of the Mohicans actually was. Well, it seemed simple ( and obvious ) to me . . .

Re:

Thanks, Annicita. Yeah, the Russia/Europe thing was a bit confusing, but I too recall hearing or reading something about Eurasia "way back when." I still find it fascinating though to split a major country between two continents. The "yellow" thing had to be a joke of some kind ( talk about being blatantly wrong! ) And believe it or not, I really expected to get at least one argument from someone over whether Uncas or Chingachgook was actually the last of the Mohicans. I'm glad everyone seemed to see, and take, my side on that one!

I've got to agree with your logic, the last one to breathe is the last one.

I didn't know that about Russia either, I guess it must have been done at some point in the collapse of the USSR but it wasn't publicised too much (or at all)

Re:

Good question, FSI. I can only consider and comment on the ones I had actually heard myself. But there's a very good chance that there may have been others. I can't see it happening too often, because others like me might get really, really suspicious, and launch an internal investigation. It could still provide some entertainment though. People seem to love scandals . . . !

Re: Jimmy

Well, Naut, like I wrote, all of the info concerning Russia west of the Urals was very surprising to me. I had always considered the entire country of Russia to be a part of Asia. I had never heard of a country . . . any country . . . being split between two continents. But, who am I to argue the geographical boundries of a Superpower?  Good choices on the sporting events to watch ( baseball and hockey are two of my favorites as well ). As for the Amsterdam/Hague debate, my research revealed that Den Haag was the capitol until 1806, when Louis Bonaparte installed his government in Amsterdam. Eight years later, the French were ousted, and the government seat returned to Den Haag, but the "title" of capitol remained with Amsterdam. So you can understand why I would immediately think Amsterdam over The Hague. I guess it's somewhat similar to my New York Giants football team. They used to play in "Giant's Stadium." Then a new stadium was built and is now called Met Life Stadium, but I will still refer to it as "Giant's Stadium!" Thanks for weighing in.  My response is almost as long as the blog itself!

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Wiley. Yeah, some of those wrong answers were a bit frustrating, but as a "little guy," it probably wouldn't be worth creating another game show scandal like the one from the '50's. And I wouldn't consider you "mentally challenged." As long as you don't tie your shoe laces to each other, trip and fall on your face, stick a fork in a plugged-in toaster, or tell a 6' 4", 300 lb. football player that he plays like a girl, you're on a par with any person of intelligence!

Thank you very much, TAPS. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do my best to keep everyone informed, entertained or enlightened. It's more fun that way . . .

This has many wondering how many errors are floating out there on game shows.

Jimmy

The only games I ever watch are baseball and occasionally hockey, as well as the Superbowl. That's it, LOL. But I agree with your corrections on the Mohican questions and of course the one on colour. And yes, Russia west of the Urals has always been considered part of Europe. BUT: The capital of the Netherlands is not Amsterdam but den Haag (officially 's Gravenhage), or The Hague in English...

JimmyA

I have never been a game watcher and I don't think I could put up with the frustration of letting a wrong answer stand. I'd have to telephone somebody over that, write to the newspapers, go after their license to keep that show off the air. You get it I'm mentally challenged so that's why I don't watch game shows. Great post though........
