It sounds like her words are something that we can all relate to.

Hi lustorlove, I missed Mrs. Obama's speech, wish I hadn't, sounds like it was a good one. I so agree with your post. You're lucky to be living just above the poverty line, we live just below that line, but I'm not complaining, we do okay. My kids don't know they're poor...Lol. They have everything they need and most things they want (which isn't necessarily a good thing), we eat good, we have a roof over out heads, a decent car, nice clothes and although I do have those nasty outstanding bills from when I was working and doing better, I make it on what I get from my disability. Americans are a spoiled bunch, so many of us try to keep up with the latest of everything and put ourselves in debt for the "look good", but you're right if we didn't want so much two ppl wouldn't have to work, we could survive nicely on so much less and teach our children so much more. Our priorities seem to have gotten all mixed up somewhere along the way. Family, for some, seem to be the lowest on the list, although they swear up and down everything that's done is for them. Not so, I dare say, many times it's selfish wants that's at the top of the list. Thank you for your post and your sentiment.

I have no doubts about Mr. Obama and his dedication to his family. But first of all, he's not the only one who has those particular values and two, that doesn't necessarily qualify him as a president or a leader, just like it didn't necessarily qualify him four years ago when he first ran. We need a lot more than just a "dedicated family man," regardless of their background.

I watched all of her speech. She is a very special lady and well worth listening to. I saw a photo of President Obama and their two girls watching Michelle give her speech on TV. Whether one is Dem or Rep, for Obama or not, once cannot help but see his love for her on his face, and his pride in her.
