I'm sorry you missed your friend, but what an experience in the bar.
It would be rare to hear folks singing old ballads and tunes in this area - they'd all be busy in pointless circular arguments about politics. The one who sang the last few words in a solo: maybe he had a direct connection to the one the song was about. I could almost feel the air in that place, see the jackets draped over the backs of chairs. Thanks for this one. :)

How sad to go all that way and to be disappointed. You must be resilient, I suppose it was a kind of compensation to listen to the fellow countrymen although with an aching heart.
