Sorry again, Annicita . . . make that COMMAND +, not CONTROL +!

Re:

You're probably right, adnohr. I can see the manufacturers trying to protect themselves from lawsuits if they produce something whose warnings, usages or instructions may be construed as confusing to the general populace. But when you have to be told NOT to smash another person in the head with a sledgehammer because you saw two actors on a movie screen doing it and no one seemed to have gotten hurt . . . that's a whole other ball of wax! And that's why the saying stands . . . you can't teach common sense! Sometimes I just can't wait to see what's next!

Re:

I'm sorry, Annicita, I don't understand. I use a very common, standard point size ( 12 ) for all of my postings, and it is very clear to me. Is your computer perhaps "defaulting" it to a smaller size? You can control it, you know. Whether you have a Mac or a PC, you should be able to enlarge the type yourself, regardless of the original source. Try highlighting it, and hitting CONTROL + . . . that should work!

Re:

Yeah, Utah, the bottom line in many of these scenarios is usually dollars and cents, but it still doesn't explain the rapid decline in general I.Q.'s, when people have to be constantly told certain things that should . . . should . . . simply fall under the category of "common sense!" We've all seen the various disclaimers and warning labels out there! Mere avoidance will not stem the tide, and I'm really not sure any more what will. Our population seems to just be getting stupider and stupider and stupider . . .

Re: JimmyA

So that's what is was, Wiley? I understood you perfectly, you knucklehead! Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Wiley. Just one question though: was the change due to drug-use by the kids, or by the movie producers? Or perhaps a combination of both! Hmmm . . . something new to contemplate!

It was magic, Kabu, primarily because it wasn't real . . . and we all knew that! And the best part was, nobody got killed, or even seriously injured, so they were all back the following week to entertain us and make us laugh all over again! Those violent video games are a whole other matter. How they can pass as "entertainment" is beyond me!

Re:

None of us did, FSI. Because somehow, we were brought up with a keen sense of being able to distinguish between what is reality, and what is "make believe." Why that can no longer be done today is beyond me. And if you're even a casual fan of the Stooges, the movie is worth checking out at least once!

Re:

And it's a shame, luster! Are people's perceptions of reality that skewed today? That's why those types of comedies will always be funny, and why most of what passes as comedy today is not!

Oh but there are some hysterical parents out there - their children are suffocated with protection and, as you say, don't learn to use their own common sense. Pair the hysterical parents with sue-happy lawyers, and no wonder the product makers are taking every precaution!

i wish you would use a bigger font size....this size is so hard to read

If we put warnings on everything that could cause harm in a movie or TV show there would be no time left for the presentation. The only way we will put an end to such showings is by not going, by not watching...Its the dollars they count in Hollywood, just as it is at Apple, or Exon.

All it took to make kids more stupid and movie makers having to explain the obvious to kids today very different from you and I, was drugs. They changed everything!!!! Great post as usual.

(Now see I'm way older than you and I had to re-write my own comment to understand it myself.LOL)I loved the Stooges!!!

yet kids can play these games on Computers and whatever is out there and

they are so terribley violent where people explde and blood is everywhere and they die. Poor old Daffy Duck used to loose all of his feathers even get erased and repainted in perhaps with different feet or head....He would get so angry, why I am smiling as I write....but he never died a violent death and yes I think that we knew it was all make believe. A bit of magic.

I have to check out that movie...It is amazing all of the disclaimers out there now. Like you, I never thought to try any of the things that they did on film.

things back then were funny but nowadays with so many weirdos you have to be careful about everything you put on the screen
