A fitting punishment I wonder what that little duck vandal grew up to be . I suppose this was one of the good times in your life when you could all bond together in a worthy cause.

Isn’t it strange how words and stories can at times trigger associations. Reading this post evoked two totally unrelated images: “A punishment to fit the crime. trala, a punishment to fit the crime.” – from Gilbert & Sullivan’s musical The Mikado.
Almost at the same time, I was thrown back a good many years to a scene in George Bernard Shaw’s play Saint Joan, in which she is being interrogated by the judges and she keeps interrupting the proceedings, jumping to her feet and refusing to sit down when repeatedly she is orered to do so.. The exasperated judges confer about what the appropriate punishment should be for her refusal to sit. Eventually the verdict is announced: “If you refuse to sit down your punishment will be that you will have to stand.”
Fine story, Pat. - Pannonian
