Wonderful post! Brings to my mind the looming presence

of my third grade arithmetic teacher, hovering, disappearing, hovering...

Yesterday an interesting shadow passed across my yard right in front of my deck.  I could not see the heliocopter for the deck roof and the angle of its flight between the sun and my yard, but I could tell from the sound of it that it was very, very low.  The shadow was fascinating--the turning propellers, the shape of it...for a minute I thought it was going to set down in front of me and want me to climb in and go for a ride.
