Well, Annicita, I know that all dog's sense of smell is far superior to humans, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they will be out and about putting that nose to good use! As for those emissions from the other end . . .

my grandkids have 2 dogs....their sizes are what i call a dog and pony show! but the pony just seems to lie there and leak his own gas and not flinch as the rest of us are!

And I hope I didn't appear to sound disrespectful about your "rose poem." The truth is, all my life I've just never really been a big poetry fan ( although, as a writer, I can appreciate the thought-process and heart-felt feelings that go into it ). But because of my lack of total immersion into that particular world, most of the time I actually have some difficulty fully interpreting what the writer may be tying to convey. Some poems are relatively easy for me to comprehend, while others are not. And when that happens, I usually just "jump ship." But again, I don't mean any disrespect.

We sure can, FSI. The trick is, when they sit up and take notice of something, we have to figure out what they're taking notice of! It always helps to pay attention.
