I would do the same - have the mushrooms and the cauliflour and leave the meat behind. I love the poem - a haunting glimpse of what might have been.

Yes FS if only we knew what the other person was thinking, it would make life a lot easier when we are young, when one gets older one can hazard a good guess, but always err on the downside.

I always find what you write to be interesting...I've had many a time where pride got in the way of me asking a question...

Well yes indeed Pat, but a bit too sophisticated for us these days although I remember them, you could eat your boots if they were in there long enough.

Kabu if I cooked it I would not be able to eat it, it was an ill suggested notion I was thinking of those puddings the Mother used to make steak and kidney with a soft top,

What a hauntingly beautiful poem. I loved it.
It sounds like perhaps that meat needed to be cooked long and slow in a crock pot maybe. Or perhaps being vegetarian might be best. I sauteed some portabella mushrooms yesterday with some red onions....wonderful flavor and no meat at all.

I am glad he didn't eat it all himself, though you made that meat sound inedible, might be better if he had.The cat wouldn't eat is huh? Blimey!! Happy I just had crackers and patée for supper, I could chew that. LOL The cow coming from the Ark was a nice touch. Sounds like you had a vision looked like your daughter, she sounds a beauty. Like your soft love poetry too.

Beat that meat to death and cook it slowly for a day and it will be
delicious. I am sure the mushrooms are OK and it sounds like a real nice dish.
Love the poem, as we get older do we more often wonder about the might have beens of our Youth?
