Re:

I'm not sure how to respond to that one, Sam. Or rather, I'm not sure where to start. Let's see . . . first off, I feel bad that you had such a terrible father. I hope reading my blog didn't evoke too many awful memories. I've actually known others in a similar situation, and none of it was pretty. At least you had your uncle to turn to. Secondly, I've played poker all my life, and had been introduced to a myriad of unusual games ( 7-27, Follow the Queen, Spit in the Ocean, Criss-Cross, 7 Card No-Peak, 3 to 7 Guts, 2 Card Drop, etc., etc. ) but have never heard of 444! So, does that number combination come across your path frequently? ( my wife and I have a special number between us . . . 22 . . . but that's a blog for another day! ) And third, and absolutely not least, I occasionally have a beer or a glass of wine ( I'm not really a drinker ) and even a sip of Jack Daniels would probably roll my eyes back up into my head, melt my brain, and "put me down" for a spell! But hey, the bottom line was that you and your Uncle had a great time together ( so how much did you usually take "the beast" for? ) Thanks for sharing!

I love it, how comforting, too! I had a favorite uncle pass away and the numbers 444 always came up to me! They were everywhere I went and it took me forever to figure it out but when I did it was glorious, he had been with me for a very long time! The numbers are representative of his favorite poker game, 444, 4 up, 4 down and 4's wild! My biological father was a horrible person and my uncle was always there for me. When I was older early twenties I would get into the 'family' poker games and he and I would get my biological father in the middle of us and my uncle would get the 444 game going and we would clean out the beast! Then we would go to his office in his garage, I was among the very few he allowed in there and we would drink Jack Daniels straight from the bottle and laugh our arses off! lol sam

Re: One of the TV psychics used to say that finding a feather in your path

Thanks, Pat. I'm not sure if I've ever heard that before, concerning the "feather in your path" symbol. If that is even remotely true, then I will consider a whole bird as opposed to just a feather an even bigger sign of my father's continuous presence in my life! They really are beautiful birds! Thanks for your thoughts.

One of the TV psychics used to say that finding a feather in your path

was a symbol that someone in the afterlife is sending a greeting. I love cardinals, too, and also take special notice of them. I'm glad you're finding comfort in the red and the birds - and that you think of your dad with love these days. :)

Re:

It really is, FSI. Like I wrote, I know of others with similar personifications of lost loved ones. In a way, it's comforting and spooky at the same time!

Re:

That's true, luster. It would have been one thing if the cardinal had only appeared to a few of us. But all of my brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews, now have cardinals in their yards. It's incredible.

Re: Jimmy

Thanks, Naut. I really do try to pick topics and subject matters for my posts that I believe a good majority of people may be able to relate to. And I think this particular topic can be something a lot of people may have experienced or contemplated themselves. It always helps to share . . .

Re:

I'm sure there is, MakLee. To be perfectly honest, I actually didn't believe in or really consider such things until after my dad passed away and this gorgeous red cardinal began to appear. Once I accepted and understood the connection, many things became clearer. Now I know better . . .

Re:

Care to elaborate, adnohr? I assume that you're referring to the personification of a lost loved one coming to visit from time to time. They take on many forms, and I know many people who have similar experiences. And the specifics don't really matter. It's a way to keep that person close to us, and continuously in our thoughts.

Re: JimmyA

I'm glad you liked it, Justi. For the first few years after my dad's passing, I was very hesitant to bring him up or talk about him at all ( it was still very painful ). But now I feel the need to share such things, hoping others have similar thoughts and sentiments as well.

Re: After my father's passing I too noticed the cardinal making its presenc

Thank you, marlin. I think it's both interesting and wonderful that we not only share a common emotion and sentiment concerning our dads, but that the cardinal is also the common personification. A beautiful bird with both a beautiful song and message!

Re: Lovely and meaningful!

I have a feeling that a lot of people do, Katray. The interesting, special and "meaningful" way in which they present themselves to us is what makes each appearance and personification unique.

Re: I kinda like this one too. A red cardinal is about as good as one could

Thank you, Kabu. I had a feeling some people might appreciate the cardinal becoming a symbol for my dad, seeing how the cardinal is really one beautiful bird!

Its a nice feeling, to realise we are not alone in the world I think, and that once we move on from this world we can still be there for the people that matter most to us. Perhaps even right a few things we don't feel good about. Thanks for sharing this and reminding me that there is always someone looking out for me.
