In the USA, it is against the law to kill a bat. You are supposed to do what you did, or call Animal Control who will do it for you. Sis had a bat inside once and it freaked her out. Animal Control came and got it and gave her some info on bats. Very interesting creatures, I must say.

I had one in the house once - this one was in flight mostly, but
wouldn't go out the door for us. My only fear is they'll get tangled in my hair.
On another note - thanks for your lovely comment this morning on my blog. I tried to edit the blog and ended up zapping it somehow along with the comments. :)

Fascinating story, and I am glad you saved its little leathery hide and don't share the revulsion to bats often found among people, especially, it seems, among those of the female persuasion, LOL...

How lovely a tiny bat, a pair of leather gloves and Bob's your Uncle. Here they are protected as a rare species. Those vampire films have a lot to answer for. I am glad you released it adnhor it might have been some bat's baby.

I don't like them either, but I can get a towel etc., and get rid of them. We have a bat cave here on the water and at sunset thousands of them fly out of the cave. Boats are lined up daily to watch them. One got into my house too. I ran for George...

I am in awe. I do not "do"bats close to me very well. Actually they turn me
into one of those people that scream and almost faint when they see...Oh something like...umnn. a snake!!!!!! Someone once told me that if they get into your hair they cling so tight with those little feet that they have to be cut out of your hair.
Just as well your friend on the other end of that phone didn't know about that...but bat is gone and I am glad that your smile is back.
