A lot of our country roads are around 40 miles per hour where I live. Of course what the sign is and what people drive is another story all together...It can be tough when we have those gifts.

I'd be happy with 40 minutes without rain!  Even my spuds have got blight now and I'm having to dig the poor things up to save what I can.

Loved the poem although she seems a little hard

Re:PAT days without rain? It's not really a good idea if you ask me.

Well Pat it seems to me that the old proverb was right if we had rain, it rained overnight.

Poor Mama little did she realize that some women married for love or whatever.  The payment meant one had to earn every cent many times more. Or is a this being too cynical

Re: C.C.

You are probably right Justi a bit too smart for me. I suppose the roads did not get the bashing they have nowadays it needs harder material.

Well you have to marry an old man for his money and then a younger one for the genes

Ah, poor Sue, marrying for money instead of love! And, it's good you are getting a break from the rain! I suspect the plants are as well!

Christopher called today and he is getting married on July 27, 2013! I said thank you because it gives me enough time to save for the trip. My brother is driving us there! Here is a link if you would like to see the place where he is to wed: Lost Lake Woods! Now keep dry and I hope you are feeling well, too! sam

A girl named Sue. She dallied with you but had her life plan well in mind. She may regret it, for I'm inclined to believe Pat's mother. Enjoyed the poem, the picture, but would hate going that long without rain

I, for one, got the new picture for this post.  It is beautiful.

We too have the bad roads. There is always a trade off, when you and I were young things were better as in the basics good roads, yet we had little of what we have today. Sometimes I think us humans just think we are in control.

Oh I liked Sue. Even if she married the next door millionaire, she left you with better gifts and none of the trials that could have been attached. Good work as usual.

40 days without rain? It's not really a good idea if you ask me.

Trees and green growing things don't like that. I loved the poem, although the girl seemed a bit hard-hearted. Perhaps I should have married for money, but Mama once said anyone who marries for money earns every cent twice.  :)
