Re: Jimmy
Sure, Naut, there's a fair amount of skill involved with poker. I know that. Kyle bluffed well, and knew when to stay in and when to fold. But there's at least an equal amount of luck involved as well, and Kyle had it in spades!

I like Kyle! But I must tell you that, while he may well be lucky, to win consistently at poker he must also be pretty sharp! Poker is quite definitely a game of skill - in fact, you need a 'package' of skills...

Re:
That's true too, luster. And as always, it will depend on the situation. Sometimes we have to rely on those "little white lies."

Kyle sounds cleaver and has a good quality honesty, but in some cases honesty is not always the best policy

Re:
That's probably true, Sam. Perhaps luck can be the residue of complete honesty. I guess it couldn't hurt! And believe me, everyone was shocked ( but amused ) that he actually recieved a passing grade for his book report! Clever bastard!

That was just awesome on the book report! I love it no end! I don't know anyone like Kyle because I have never truly known anyone who was as honest as he was! I think that makes all the difference in the luck factor as it were! sam

Re: JimmyA
Good for you, Wiley, and thanks for the nice compliment. I sincerely doubt that you and my friend are related, although ya never know!
Sometimes I won at our poker games, but Kyle was usually the "big" winner of the night! Many moons ago, I did hit 5 out of 6 numbers for our state lottery, and won a little over $4,000.00! I'd love to know where that money is now!

Re: What a character, and well portrayed in your writing here. Do i know a Kyle
Thanks, Kabu. Well, I guess it might be somewhat difficult to find too many people who are extremely honest, extremely lucky AND very personable. He's really the only one that I know of that fits all three characteristics!

Re:
Really, FSI? You never knew one guy who was very lucky, and who sometimes somehow found a way of getting out of some potentially troubling situations? Hmmm . . .

I'm glad I'm not alone, Eleanor. You had a friend who was extremely lucky as well? They're the ones you need to have get your lottery tickets for you!

Actually Kyle and I may be related. LOL In school Kyle and I would have been perfect, I wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer in school either. Good posts you write my friend, well written like you're a pro writer or journalist or something. Oh I won at poker and won$500.00 on the Loto Québec years ago at a new job.

I was thinking of one or two people but no, they miss out on the honesty and everyone really likes them aspects of personality!

I love the idea about the book report. I could have saved myself some time if I had "read it."
Off hand I cannot think of ever having known a Kyle.
