Steven Hawking has written some of the most interesting books
ever, and I love to read them, even if 85% of the theory is lost on my English Major brain. His courage and determination - and especially his humor - are a wonderful example to those of us who face far easier challenges. Thanks for this amazing post!

Hawking's a hero of mine, too...
Would that I have had him as my astronomy professor my freshman year...

Probably not. And I believe Mr. Hawking's "incorrect" assumptions, whether they were bet on or not, are more than likely still on a higher level intellectually than most people's "correct" assumptions. It's a shame he is in the condition he is. One can't help but wonder what kind of life he would have had without this debilitating disease!

ZY Aah your intellectual admiration that elevates a physicist to the status of hero requires a working mind. For others it shares an interesting biography Naut. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

Most of us knew it had nothing to do with God, and yet everything to do with God. I would emagine that there are billions upon billions of things we mortals will find to amuse ourselves with...But a piece of God I doubt. Great post Naut.

Maybe the media thought the discovery itself wouldn't be flamboyant enough to sell press?

Excellent article and I have no idea what earthly or unearthly good it does
us to find this thingy, your post is all perfectly true, as I have been following for my indepth research for my brilliant futuristic short story!!!! It is unfortunate that the media hooked onto this God particle nonsense for it will prejudice people to fearing that it is something bad. ...but then, I may play on that to continue my story.
