Will do, Nita. Thank you as well!

Re:

I guess that's true, TAPS. It could have been worse. Now, if there had been some gun play involved, my trunk may not have been the only thing to end up with a scratch in it!

Agree with Taps! Thanks for your visit. Cranberry is not very common in India, so I have to look around. Please keep my son in your prayers.

What a horrible tale.  The principle of the thing was definitely not worth all that hullabaloo.  You are fortunate no one began shooting.

Re: Wow, what a tale!

You like that one, Katray? Believe me, I have plenty, most just as bizarre as the last!

Re:

See, FSI? Sometimes one person's blog triggers something for a blog topic of your own! Is it "gas" related, or just a story almost as bizarre as mine?

Re:

Absolutely, luster! That's how I felt! It was really his responsibility, not mine! I'm actually glad that so far, no one has posted a comment along the lines of "You should have just given him the quarter!" I guess most people would have done the same thing I did!

Re:

Oh, yeah, Eleanor, I felt alive alright! In fact, a part of me felt lucky to still be alive after that! You never know sometimes how far people might go under those kinds of circumstances! He, and the situation, could have turned really dangerous! Yikes!

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Wiley. But believe it or not, it's not really so much of a bad memory as much as just a bizarre one! I highly doubt that any of those circumstances would ever repeat themselves. At least I hope not! Yeah, it was somewhat shocking, to say the least!

Re:

Well, Utah, "liking" change and "demanding" change are probably two different things!

Perhaps, Against! Hopefully, there wouldn't have been any explosions, deaths, or unnecessary police activity! And, we weren't hungry at the time!

Re: Jimmy

Thanks, Naut. I'm not sure about the "suicidal idiocy" part, but he was determined to either get that quarter, or the 25 cents worth of gas out of my tank! Maybe such mistakes automatically come out of his paycheck, and he was already down a couple of bucks that week because of doing the same thing to others. We'll never know!

Re: Terribly wrong of me but all that really worried me was you losing the cap

That's funny, Kabu, that you should fret over the cap, although, at that moment, it almost appeared as though I was getting out of there with my life! Yeah, he could have been high on something. Or perhaps he had been inhaling too much car and gas fumes that evening! It was truly bizarre!

Re:

It's okay, Sam. The gas cap was the least of my worries at that moment ( I was able to replace it the next day ). The difference, however, between your situation and mine is that New Jersey is still only one of two states ( I think the other is Oregon ) where we have attendents to pump our gas for us. Also, today, you can program in the exact amount for the pump, and it will stop automatically on that amount. But back then, attendents had to pay attention and put in the exact amount themselves. And, in this case, he screwed up and went over! And he wanted that lousy quarter . . . !

What a goof that guy was. It never ceases to amaze me how some people are.

As a related aside, you've given me a blog post idea...

good one you were right he should of paid attention to how much he pumped, it was his loss

I wouldn't say the price is precious, but what the price offers is. But, I must say that was quite an experience you had. We all should have odd experiences in our life, that way we'll know how alive we are! lol

Shocking story and a bad memory now. I probably would have done the same especially needing change for a toll still too. Great post my friend......

I guess some people just like change.

I might be a little bit off the mark,

but if it was Harold and Kumar in this situation, this misadventure most likely would have gone in another direction entirely!

Jimmy

Quite a story! Clearly, you met a guy of suicidal idiocy! And he had absolutely no legal right to ask you for that extra quarter...

Terribly wrong of me but all that really worried me was you losing the cap

from the tank. The guy must have been high on something.

I must say, he was nothing but a 2 bit attendant! LOL! A couple of years ago my daughter and I were at a gas station and she only had $20 to put in her tank! She went in to prepay and I pumped! I did not pay much attention because they cut it off when one is close to the amount! I had it on the stay flowing mode and it wasn't long before I realized that it was close to $30 and I panicked! We went in to the station to let them know what was going on and discovered a new employee had accidentally set our pump for $40, dang, should have let it go! LOL But the same thing happened they wanted us to pay for their error! And they fussed, too! But, she had what she had and they finally let us leave and they absorbed the loss! I would have loved to see them try to siphon $10 bucks out of a new vehicle that doesn't allow that to happen, ha ha ha! I could see that guy dragging along behind you, too! Too bad you lost your cap though! sam
