What a story! And I agree with Kabu - I think the Cal-Iris relationship could use some development. Lumpy gravy as a cause for divorce seems a bit, well, thin...

great short story that could certainly be padded out into a bigger story.
But I find here most folk can only be bothered with the short version. LOL. CC and the lumpy gravy quip made me giggle.

Well I hope she kept the house Pat . These things sometimes go with a promise. Sometimes little things trigger a stupid response as you have rightly shown. I thought gravy had lumps.

Wow - that's some ending. Last night, driving to visit Suzie, I glimpsed what looked like a blanket in the ditch along the bush road. I went past - but had to turn and go back and check it out. Needless to say your story was stuck in my mind. Happily it was just an old piece of of material, full of holes, that had probably blown out of the back of somebody's truck.
