Re: Pat

Thank you Pat, I am glad you read as such. Actually the gin was given to my S.I.L but she and her husband cannot drink. Her nephew told her when the bottle was empty he would refill it, well for Christmas. The last time I tried the homemade variety was as you say in Fairy Land.

Re: SAM

SAm I would think you have a gardener's Nightmare . Remember last year you said you were going to get weed free straw? Sorry dear I don't like your idea of newspaper and straw If you had netted it perhaps. Perhaps you could hang an old blanket over the boards to deaden the impact, although I expect the sound is part of the occasion. I jist thought SAm over here they would probably make us use rubber horse shoes. Health and safety/

Thank you Kabu, and you take care, you are not riding up the road with ten bob in your purse these days waiting, just waiting for a wolf whistle.

don't think it is so much that I feel weak as it is a shortness of breath. I can hold my own for a good three minutes.

I fear you are not alone on being unique, but at the end of the day even though we share similarities we are still unique in our own way!  I don't think it's apathy in as much as resignation once we reach a given age! Or maybe I haven't a clue!

The garden is such a pain this year with the straw! I don't remember having this much of a problem last year! I did put the straw down first and had to remove it, then add newspapers and that seem to cure the problem. This year I put the newspaper down first but the windstorm blew it all over the place and the straw is coming up and under, peeking wherever it can find light and it grows, grows, grows! But I would be hoeing otherwise so now I can weed, and daily, in the clean of the straw! LOL! It is a slow go on the growing this year because I was unable to get the manure in it! We live and learn so now I am using Miracle Grow and hopefully that will be enough food to get them going and hopefully a great crop, too!

Sorry I haven't been by to say howdy but the chores seem to be endless this year! I had to build backboards for my horseshoe pits for the gathering on the 4th. I grabbed materials on hand and didn't realize that I had made a big mistake because I used pressed board and now I imagine they will be broken in no time at all! People always think they need to pitch the shoe harder than needs to be but it's a once in a year event and we will survive!

I will catch up on your posts very soon but I have to help my SIL in a few minutes and so it amounts to another interruption! LOL I hope you are having a great evening! sam

Like you, "I want to feel unique..." The poem there made me feel sad inside just like the speaker.

Love the poem - especially the line about the rainbow mind,

and the tender wish that the child not have to endure what the parent did. Universal truth and a lovely flower, no need for anything more.

I can't remember the last time I had a sloe gin fizz. Some long-lost new years eve in another life...
