Sometimes the heat could be friendly too. Well, I could say that because I couldn't complain much about it. I am born and raised in a country of Summer. lol

It is frustrating when it is too hot to go outside and potter and prune and
tidy things up. Perhaps you need those Nijas back to dig out the weed lay some groound cover...I use plastic and cover with ..well I use cedar mulch. The weeds are beaten that way!!

It's hot here too. I love it, always have, and everything is nice and lush because we've had enough rain over the last while, since we get the odd thunderstorm thrown in. Only my poor roses don't like the heat...

Oh how I love hollyhocks. They were the flower of my childhood in my back yard. There were iris and rosebushes in the front yard, but hollyhocks reigned in the back, the color that you mention, but mostly I remember the pink.

Lo Pat quite cool here, needs heat inside at times and lots of rain (which I forecast) and must not let any one forget and in the middle of a drought. I cannot see any grapes on my vines most crops are sparce after a hail storm earlier in the year.
