I had a niece in a similar situation, except she needed to close the hole in her heart immediately. However, being an infant, they had to wait a while until they were sure she could survive the surgery. She did, but passed away a year later because of an infection. It was very sad. Best of luck to your nephew.

Poor little man and i will send a prayer for his safety and the Dr.s skill
They used to be called Blue babies and would never know real health, you are right, in a year he will be roaring around and a happy healthy normal 6 year old.
