I like where I came from, even though they were not rich, or famous, or powerful, and I had to work for everything that I wanted out of life.

It matters very much where you’ve come from not strictly from a “caste” perspective but also in our philosophy about life. To use to “Dr.Philism” – our past has written on the slate of who we are. That said, we could latch ourselves onto the past and remain victim, shy, carry a lousy self-image, and think we have specific limitations, etc. or we can move beyond those tapes that are playing in our head. Sadly, we can change the tapes all we like but in the two examples you have used – education and politics – where we came from will always be an advantage or disadvantage.

It's virtually impossible to draw inferences on the basis of individual cases - there are too many variables...We only know this: there's never been a society in which the possibility for upward social mobility was as high as it is in the US...
And the best predictor for the child's success is the parents' education - the more, the better. On the other hand, the prospects for the kid of the 15 year-old high school dropout are frighteningly poor...

I prefer to be a person that may do something for someone to make
life a wee bit happier but not to talk about it or write much about it. I think a reality TV show on how wonderful and anthropic a rich person is just makes me want to throw up. good post love, a new day and one where we can all go forward in our own style.

Well Pat I think it is a bit better than it use to be, that is if one can get get a good education and work ones socks off. Or if one is a genius, or a play child of the young. Otherwise unless one has the hard stuff, it still means chipping away at rock.

And for the majority of cases, you are absoultely right. It's not what you know, it's who you know.
