What you have described is very similar to our once a year western festival out here in the bush. Great video posted by TAPS, and I had to laugh at your answer to CCT. My kids thought I was brought up in the same era as 'The Little House on the Prairie' - they weren't all that wrong, except for the Indians. We had a 'John Wolf's brother' at our school too.

Thank you Pat, I guess I watched too many Westerns in the 4p seats and too many Hollywood fantasies later.

Re: CCT - one imagines you'd be all too modern for such gaiety...

I grew up in a tiny village at the edge of civilization in the foothills of the western Cascades about 150 miles from the Pacific Coast. We were fifteen miles off the main highway that stretches from the Mexican town of Tijuana in the south to the Canadian city of Vancouver about an hour's drive north of Seattle.

At school one day a teacher explained to our class that people in New York and Boston thought we still had to fight off Indians on our way to school. Which, if you were sitting near John Wolf's grabby brother, you might have to. Sometimes I feel like I was transplanted into the 21st century from the 1880s.

Good old fashioned fun and families getting together and some real live

music without all the extraordinary effcts needed to make someone look/sound like a star. Enjoy today.

Pat just as I thought it would be twenty years ago, your country still has great enthusiasm. One imagines that you would all be too modern for such gaiety.  It just seems nice that these gatherings are still a joy to most folk,

That sounded like a once-a-year day.
