Re:
That's a good one too, Sam. Sort of a rainbow affect with your clothes, huh? And matching hangers to boot! Wow!

Re: Hi Jimmy,
Hmmm . . . I guess that qualifies, Amanda. In other words ( just as an example ) if you had a plate of carrots, mashed potatoes and a piece of chicken, you would eat all of the carrots, then the mashed potatoes, then the chicken? Personally, I don't think I could do that. But if that's how you prefer to dine, hey, like I always say, to each his own!

Hi Jimmy,
I have to eat all of my food separately. Does that qualify?

Re:
It would seem, Against, that the two downfalls in your "practice" would be 1) if you keep missing that zero and continue to go up, it could get very expensive after a while and 2) there's only so much room in your gas tank! How much more would you be able to fit in if you kept missing that zero? It's gotta stop some time!

I do a similar arrangement with my clothes on my hangers. All the hangers must be running the same way and all the clothes facing the same way. But odder is what I do at the gas station. In keeping track of my gas mileage, I always stop pumping so that the gallon amount is rounded off to an even one hundredths. For example, at 8.690 I stop, but I keep pumping if it stops at 8.691--doing so until it stops with a "0" at the third decimal number.

That's a little different, mariss. I just hope you don't accidentally bump into something with all of that aimless pacing!

I tend to pace around aimlessely when I have something hard to do that I want to avoid.

Re: JimmyA
Sure, Wiley, that's another way to put it. However, "disorder" sounds just a tad harsh, like I would be bouncing off the walls in a padded cell somewhere if I forgot to flip over that one coin! Quirk, at least, makes it sound like a harmless habit or ritual one feels "compelled" to do from time to time. Believe it or not, there have been a handful of times when I was actually able to walk past a face-down coin and ignore it. It was a little tough, but I did it!

Re:
It's nice, Utah, to find a fellow "coin flipper," but I too am a poker player, and know all about bluffing and "tells." And you're right. Making opponents think you've got a good hand initially and then bluffing with those tells later can work a good percentage of the time. Believe it or not, my "tell" while playing poker that gave away good hands was to always crack my knuckles when the cards fell just right. And if I pulled that card for an inside straight, or grabbed the fifth spade or club for a flush, watch out! The "popping" would go on for several minutes! That was a very difficult habit to break!

Re:
That is a unique quirk, FSI. Almost like washing a dish before you use it . . . and then washing it again after you use it. Hey, there's nothing wrong at all with neatness and cleanliness!

Thanks, Bright. I would have never thought of it as "uniquely cute," but that's as good a way to describe it as any! And I actually think that sometimes I too am compelled to even out certain odd numbers under certain circumstances! Hmmm . . .

A "squashy marshmallow," Kabu? Don't stand near any campfires! And I'm not sure if collecting gnomes would be considered a quirk, unless you only but them on Thursdays, only if they're on sale, and only if they're less than two feet tall. Aah, now we have a quirk!

That's a good one, Naut. Perhaps that has taught you to be more careful with your own spelling habits, which is not a bad thing ( I, for some reason, can't spell to save myself! Thank the gods for "spell check" ) Perhaps an editing career is in your future!

I think really what your asking is if other folks have an 'obsessive compulsive' disorder and I'd have to say in my case not anymore........

Okay, so I do the coin thing too, but worse than that is the nodding of my head when I have a good poker hand. I learned this in Nevada while playing Texas hold em. I had the winning hand and I knew it, and when others would bet against me I would nod my head as if saying no, when it came time for the last player to bet he mentioned my head nod and folded and as hard as I have tryed to quit I still catch myself doing it. Of course now I bluff with it as well.

My bed has to be made before I get into at night. Sometimes I let it go. Then when it's bedtime I'll make it anway, then pull down the covers.

Well .. I am annoyed by uneven numbers. The grandchildren laugh at me .. If they ask for a cookie they will get 2 or 4 but never three. This carries on to many other thngs. I think your little quirk is uniquely cute.

Here's one of mine - when I spot a misprint in a book, I must take a pen and correct it. Sometimes when I don't, maybe because I haven't got a pen handy, it bugs me, and I have been known to go back to it later and do it...It's totally irrational, but it's one of those strange compulsions...
