I found the poem warm and wonderful and found myself wanting to be the boy for some reason, it's a father thing I'm sure. The flowers were stunning again, and I am glad you are here on Blogit to bring all of this to us each day.

Re: Pat
Thank you Pat, there is a certain pathos around old men. I can't wait to feel it emanating.Only a joke. I wish I could paint, but that seems more splash than anything these days. Of course I agree with what you say

Re:
Thank you Justi sadly if one was bright in those days one would have to have the collateral to continue down that path. As you know it was not easy.

Re.kabu
To be sure Kabu it is Archie, who is in for a biggy, don't lean over water buts and ask Wiley if he can solve the problem please, I think he would tie a spanner onto a walking stick, no that was my idea, I will give him the correct answer tomorrow. re my reply to Wiley

Re: BrightIrish
Thank you B.I well one cannot give less than three pounds these days as it is the cost of a coffee I think. I don't get many big deliveries so it is not very often.

Re: RAY
Thank you Ray the flowers are different ,but they took the trouble to grow, so I shall save an offspring. The old man to whom the poem refers was a prisoner of war in the Japanese camp. He was terribly thin and had very bad health, but he liked to talk to anyone who was interested.

Re wiley .
Wiley I have a problem for you to solve. Four water buts five feet tall they deliver them with the taps screwed on the inside. How do poor old people undo them and screw them on the outside
PS I know a man who was drowned trying to fish a dead bird out so don't ever try to clean one with water still in it, legs in he air that's your lot.

Glad you have water, rolls and growing grass..:)
And the poem; you have captured the agelessness of an aging artist and like soul magnificently, CCT...

Giving the young man a tip was a generous act on your part. Hopefully Arthur will not be very upset with your news. As alway's .. the flower is beautiful and the story well told. Relax and have some time for yourself.

This was an exceptional one again. The poem is awesome. He may not have papers stamped by the Headmaster but he has a wealth of wisdom, he has education not gathered inside the stale old walls of schools that have housed the pomp for generations. No he has new and ancient wisdom mixed creating beauty in words and deeds to be enjoyed by all classes.

Now I'm waiting for what Arthur will learn. Patience...
I felt the poem, its lived-in truth, the hero's escape in dreams. It can be what poets are made of: threadbare suits, empty bellies and a love of learning.
