LOL...We don't do this in Australia, people tend to choose a name they like
with perhaps a second name from a family member.
Initials can be a nightmare...well for posting and business anyway.
Some cultures use the grandfather/mother for the first named children so that gets rid of the Junior thing which I always thought silly when you see Junior is an octogenarian. Good post. Interesting topic.

I'm sorry . . . but I have to disagree. I see nothing wrong in naming a child after oneself to create a "junior," and I don't feel as if the child would suddenly have to live up to anyone's expectations, simply because of their name. I'm not a "junior" myself, but I know plenty who are ( including my eldest brother, named after my father ) and nothing out of the ordinary has happened to their lives simply because they were named after their parent.
