Your SIL should do very well, he could apply to printing companies with some of his art samples to display, he'd be working in no time.

my step daughter is an artist and no she can't make a living but
she has found something people want and she does sell. recently she sold one painting for $1000.00 and I am thrilled for her. good luck to your son and perhaps he could work with a tattoo artist or something.

I don't see art as smaller and simpler. I am behind him 100%. He can take a small percentage of a paycheck when he gets any kind of job and save toward the equipment. Sounds like he is well on his way.
