Well, Utah, I guess some modern electronics aren't much good if you misplace them from time to time!

Re:

Yeah, Bright, I forgot about the VHS tape/DVD disc exchange! That was another expensive headache. As for those musical choices, just read my reply to Wiley!

I know exactly what you mean .. I bought equipment to trans fer my cassettes to CD's and have yet to figure it out. Also .. VHS tapes, my collection of movies is vast but I was forced to buy a duel player for VHS and DVD's. My Jeep Cherokee is 1999 and has a duel player for CD's and cassettes, it runs perfectly but I dread the day it shuts down on me. I'm with Wiley on Hank Snow, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams and the gang of outlaw country singers.

Re: JimmyA

Well, Wiley, I've always considered my collection "incomplete," but not because of the absence of albums by either of those gentlemen! Everybody has different tastes, and one man's steak is another man's peanut butter & jelly sandwich. I don't suppose your collection would be considered incomplete with the absence of any albums by Ozzy Osbourne or Alice Cooper, now would it?

A couple of more types, Kabu? Please! Perhaps they can find some kind of material on those asteroids that can create a more lasting and durable "disc" that will keep my collection in tact until the end of time! We'll see . . .

Re: Re: I don't think so our friend. how can the financial world stay viable if you

well now they are talking of how and soon to be mining the asteroids in Space. If they can do that, you will be be bound to have to cope with a couple more types of musical machines.

Re:

That's always the bottom line, huh Sam? Making money! I think the "record executives" have made enough money on me up to this point, thank you very much! Yeah, it never ends, it never ends . . . !

I so understand this; I have gone through the same thing! I have my albums, 8 track tapes, even a turntable that has one in it and for posterity sake, I have a player for a vehicle too! Then to cassettes and CD's and I don't believe the vicious cycle will end cuz there's money to be made! LOL! sam

I think we're almost there, FSI. How many more times can they reinvent the phone, toaster or microwave?

Re: I don't think so our friend. how can the finacial world stay viable if you

Yeah, I know, Kabu. Constant purchases are what keeps our economy going, I understand that. But you would think that by now someone would come up with the "final" music disc format and be done with it!

I wonder when we will reach our technological peak.

and how many millions don't need to buy that music ever again in a form that you can continue to enjoy. We do truly live in a throw away society. frustrating and expensive and just how the economists want it.
