Go to Life in the fast lane--where's the on ramp?

- Go to Visiting Seattle
One would think that travel shows would be researched and filmed with the cooperation of inhabitants who love and have knowledge about the area. Obviously this one missed out - maybe they lacked time?

Pat
I only spent a couple of days in Seattle once and really don't remember much beyond the hotel, but I guess she's much like her Canadian sister, Vancouver...
And yes, when we see something that reminds us very much of the landscape of our memories, or even just that of our dreams, we may get an intimation of 'timelessness', because time involves change...

I might go there one of these days now that my son David lives there. Sounds like a lovely city.

Re: darling, what is a Bumbershoot? I must say that I have never seen a
A bumbershoot is another word for "umbrella." The bumbershoot festival celebrates art, music, writing, etc. - attracts thousands of people with kids in tow, spending double the usual price for a Starbuck's latte. There's hand made pottery & ceramic tiles, jewelry, etc for sale in the museum shop, one venue is a big barn of a place laid out like a farmer's market where authors can peddle their books, lots of independent and self-published writers. There's always a poetry reading, famous authors appear to lecture and push their books... Usually the weather's great that weekend, and big bands perform out in the open, people dance, there's local beer and food on hand. Street performers, acrobats, clowns -- not the place for anyone who gets queasy in a crowd...

darling, what is a Bumbershoot? I must say that I have never seen a
good documentary on Sydney either. They show the Opera house and Harbour bridge and call it Sydney.

Re: CCT and the wild west...
Hi Yo, Silver! This was the Lone Ranger's horse. He and his faithful Indian companion Tonto, lived in the Hollywood version of the west -- desert country, mostly filmed in western Arizona with the Sierra Madres in the background. My west was the mountain west, the coastal slope of the Cascades, and the Indians I knew then were schoolmates. We rode the big yellow bus ten miles each way on curving mountain two-lanes, along the bluffs above the churning Cowlitz River, across the wooded prairie. Who knew then that it would be so wonderful in retrospect?

Never mind Pat, nothing is ever what we think it will be. It must have been quite wild in your childhood days, I know because I saw it on film in the front row 4pennies worth.
Hop along Cassidy and Silver and Tonto well spelled something like that, and the famous weed rolling up the dusty street and those floozies on the second storey, happy days, if one could shoot straight.
