OOPS -an uneasy feeling that often it is fear, not love, that really

makes the world go round.  Things that go bump in the night were on my mind when I was a kid.  I loved the people that could make them go away.

Re: Thanks! In its own little way, I guess this poem re-asserts a feeling

Great poems, both of them (I was reading back). This one stuck me though - especially the last line. Very wary baby. Love the way you lulled us into relaxation, then, with one line, poked a reminder to keep our heads out of the sand.

Bob

Excellent! You've beautifully captured the child's perspective in a very sophisticated way - and I agree with Pat, this could be a lullaby...

Re: Re: Thank you, CC! The ideas have started to come again, thanks to

oops, a nasty, nasty case of shingles, herpes, zona, or whatever it's called right on and around my left ear - a real smorgasbord of misery, but a great opportunity to lie back and get ideas to write about.  What's more, I dragged myself out to a poetry "slam" last Saturday night and came in second, and Sunday night went to see Hunger Games, which I liked a lot.

How are you doing?  The garden is thriving with no attention from me, thank God.  And Ginny is being very helpful and understanding.  Did I see that you're back writing poems again?  It's in the blood, I guess.  Be well.    Bob

Re: This is a lullaby.

Funny, being the baby's words, I didn't think of it as a lullaby, but you're right.

Re: Thanks. I got the idea of wearing a song as if it were a cloak from an

Irish poem my sister-in-law read at a funeral.
