Don't you know that I'd be laughing so hard whild saying those words and we both know that it is not polite to laugh in church!  Flowers

TAPS. - "unfaithful" would be the wrong word to use

A proper antonym for the word faithful used in this context would be non believer. I  have never been in a large group of non believers and have only found myself in small groups of non believers by accident. Still to this day, non belief is not a wise thing to proclaim in social settings or in the general public.

Do you also have rules of engagement for being one of the steadfast in a gathering of unfaithful, or are they the same?

Katray2 - Re: I hide!...lol

Good point, I neglected to mention the importance of the melting away technique. A basic survival skill when the proselytizers begin hovering.

Kabu - no need to bear your soul - I get it

I would like to think that I always did get it but that would be untruthful, maturity sometimes takes it sweet time imposing some of its most important wisdoms upon us. We all eventually get to a point where if we have survived to have fewer years ahead of us than behind us, we finally understand the true meaning of the word grateful. Grateful for what we have and what we have left ahead of us.

Tell me if I get it or not?

I hide!...lol

Seriously, I've gotten pretty good at changing the subject to something neutral, but there are those who are too stubborn or zealous for that to work. With them, I find a reason to melt away.

Re: Kabu - Re: I stick to the rules, No politics and no religion and . . .

Gome the trouble with mental abuse is you come to accept it as the Norm, what you deserve, and it is actually your own fault. You work hard at trying to avoid conflict. Work helped. Then being myself one day I had enough and left, then came Wiley and the move. These are the truly Golden years.

Kabu - Re: I stick to the rules, No politics and no religion and . . .

That must have caused a great deal of pain and conflict over the years.

BrightIrish - tell them you are a Buddhist

. . . and if necessary spout a few of the lines accredited to Buddha such as "The rain falls on all of our heads equally" . . it works every time.

sam444 - to be honest, most of the group I refer to are easy going people

However, there always seems to be a few very outspoken types on the fringes. I've made a few blunders in dealing with these people over the years but don't allow that to happen these days.

I stick to the rules, No politics and no religion and definitely no

discussion on abortion.

i was married for 17 years to an antagonistic $#%$^ who was too big a coward to actually be an athiest.

No matter what disaster happened throughout the world he would try to taunt me ..."Why didn't my God stop it"....I always shrugged and said since he knew that there was no God how could he blame him for whatever had just happened.

I don't blame you in this scenario, for it would serve no purpose to be dragged into something that you do not want to discuss! Too bad folks can't respect the way others believe or not believe but there are many who are hell bent to convert for whatever reason! I do not project my beliefs on anyone for I would not want it to happen to me! sam
