Re: Re: Re: Re:
Thanks CC! I believe this is my last summer in my rental so I will just put it in the ground and see what happens! I can alway chalk it up to experimenting, lol! In the fall I have to put sod down where I have the garden so it won't make much difference in the long run! Next year I will be more mindful of doing it right because it will be permanent then! Thanks for your thoughts! sam

Re: Re: Re:
Sam it all depends on the quality if it is straw and manure it will be a waste of time if well rotted you good dig it in but no good for root crops only brassica marrows beans etc, flowers will grow excessive leaf rather than blossom if ground is freshly manured. Personally I would stack it in a heap and use in the autumn, but you know the conditions better than I do. Good luck anyway and try and get a nice garden when you move suss it out, I would.

A lot of life experiences have changed my perception as well. It's amazing all that there is to experience in this world.

Re: Re:
I was hoping to get it in by the first of April and I wouldn't be planting until the 10th of May for vegetables and not until the first of June for flowers~ Do you think that is enough time? sam

Re:
SAm honestly I think it is a bit too late to put manure on the ground unless you are digging it well in as you know as it decomposes it does take some things out of the soil for a while and I don't think flowers like a lot of manure. I just sprinkle or work a general fertiliser as advised on the packet into the soil. I am trying dried chicken pellets as I said before, they pong a bit for a day or two but nothing serious I hope we get some rain to wash them in it is really warm here today and I wonder if I should transfer the Auriculas outside undercover, the trouble is it is really to early and we shall probably get those wretched late frosts especially when it is full moon again.

Re: what a wonderful poem. I felt part of that poor creature in that rock and
Kabu it must have slipped down a crack into a hollow and lived on algae and condensation, just a chance in a million one must assume.

Re: I love that poem. So many are frogs inside a stone
Pat I'm afraid that I never read published poetry well I have got a couple of books Dylan Thomas and the Shropshire poets. I am always afraid that I will steal the ideas as I did in one about a snake. Thank you

Re:
Taps well I would welcome a load of that, I mean it is all vegetable matter and ideal I would imagine a pity he did not get it in the autumn giving it time to be assimilated into the soil. Did you see a Chinese man is producing a specialty tea, plants grow in Panda poo.

Well perhaps this occurred during the great flood, as in Noah's day. He would be one old frog. You see all the power of that water at such force would bring rock right over the little fellow and now he is the oldest frog around. Oh well it was a thought. I loved the story and the poem.

What a frog story. Well done.
The first part before the frog poem reminded me that when I went to the zoo with Son #3 and grandson Phil, we were at the elephant area watching six elephants cavorting around and son got an idea and asked the elephant caretaker if he could get elephant manure for his flower and vegetable gardens. I was surprised when the answere was yes and he gave son a phone number to call for info. Who knows, later in the summer I may be eating a tomato made tasty and juicy by elephant poo.

just biding time... William Carlos Williams has nothing on you. Isn't he the one who wrote about a red wheelbarrow?

O, that was poignant! I liked the personification in it too! This line struck me as well: Life changes the way we look at things. No truer words for me, I could relate to it completely! And, I sent a text to my son yesterday inquiring when he could get some manure for me but he is having a over heating problem with his truck right now! At first I was a bit disappointed but when you wrote about it being heavy I was suddenly fine with it all because we have had a lot of rain of late! So, bring on the sun! lol sam
