Ethel is right, of course! But about something else: Is Marion Barry Mayor of Washington, DC, again? Wasn't he convicted of drug charges and jailed some years back? I mean, of course he would be out by now, but have people actually voted him back into office?

The gun culture is penetrating our schools too.

Re:

You may be right TAPS those are the most egregious ones it seems, one's own blood. However; I will have to research the town I was talking about and see if there were any there. It was in effect many years, may still be. I am totally a pro gun person. I have never seen harm, or even a verbal threat to others, from those I've known over the years (that would be 76) who are legitimate-legal gun owners. However they are honest legal people in the first place. They do believe in the Constitution! They believe in what it stood for in the time of their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

Of course I am talking about five generations of Americans in my family that I have records of, not a single case of crime, death or harm by guns and all were gun owners. Many women as well as men they survived a time that was hard and lived off the land. They killed animals as that was food.

It seems to me that an awful lot of shooting deaths are also done by people with legal, registered guns--especially when it concerns family member problems, little children, friends in arguments, good people gone suddenly nuts, and suicides.

want.

Sam

We saw such a thing outside Atlanta. A city made a law and enforced it. All home owners or residents were required to own and learn to use a gun. The crime rate fell to the floor. Several years later it was still so low as to be insignificant compared to the counties and cities around it. If the only access to guns is illegal then the owners cannot be expected to behave in a legaly social manner. A legal gun owner is an average legal operating person. My father owned guns all my life. I was taught very early how to respect and use the guns. What kind of safety can you expect from them? None!

Re: FS

That is so true. They are illegal guns in the first place that tells you something.

Often it is the places with the strictest gun control where the most shootings occur.
