  So True!

Re:

Well, Bright, I've always felt that too, that it all usually falls under the heading "It's a generational thing!" My parents, who grew up listening to Bennett, Sinatra, Andy Williams, Perry Como, Nat King Cole and the like, could never understand our fondness for The Beatles, The Stones, The Who and Led Zeppelin, just like we can't relate to most of the music today's kids listen to. I keep telling my nieces and nephews "It's gonna happen to you one day! Your kid is going to exclaim 'How can you listen to that old-fogey stuff like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga'?" And it's going to sound really, really funny . . . at least to me! Thanks for the response.

Re:

That's so true, Sam. Although I really don't consider myself an optimist or a pessimist ( I'm a realist ), I usually proceed under the mantra of "Hope for the best . . . but expect the worst," because I would always rather be pleasantly surprised than greatly disappointed. Like in this case . . . I was pleasantly surprised!

Hello .. I am also a Tony Bennet fan along with Frank Sanatra and Peter, Paul and Mary,  Old outlaw music. Like you, I try to keep a open mind about todays music but sadly there is not much for me to enjoy. I remember all the disgust from adults when I'd play Elvis .. Perhaps, it happens in all generations.

It is indeed surprising the things that can happen when we choose to listen with an open ear/mind! sam

Well, Kabu, forcing yourself to listen to some of today's music simply to have something to talk to your grandchildren about is one thing. But if you really, really don't enjoy any of these current artists ( like I wrote, I really don't either ) then I wouldn't be to worried about being conversational over something you really don't care for. But also as I wrote, I'm a big Tony Bennett fan, and these poeple actually sounded good with him. I was really surprised!

Re:

Well, FSI, I guess as with everything, some collaborations work, and some don't. Not to take anything away from these other singers, but Tony Bennett can make almost anyone sound good next to him! If you're a Tony Bennett fan, these collaborations are actually very enjoyable.

I've become interested in artists when they collaborated with another.
