I spent many years caring for ulcers and wounds and so I am aware of the suffering involved and the long, long time it requires for healing.  My heart is with you.

Re: Re: So sorry you are going through this, Christy

C.C.,

I have Cerebral Palsy and as a result, I have had several heel chord lengthening surgeries.  The stitching they used to close the incisions is basically like what you would use to line a fishing pole.  Nasty stuff!

Because of the CP, I have joint and bone issues, which in turn causes chronic swelling.  Being so swollen finally caused the stitches over the heel chords to rupture, which lead to the ulcers.  So, despite my young age, I'm prone to such issues.

The treatments are going to be painful as all unholy hell, but they have to be endured.  The alternative is lose the leg from severe infection, and that IS NOT happening to me.

I will pray for your SIL.  I am sorry she has to endure such pain.

Thank you for the good wishes.  I just have to keep fighting.

what frustrates me is that I was magic as a nurse with Ulcers and wounds

my best talent....and I can't do a thing to help you from here. It needs really special care and really special care for the whole leg and here I am too far away to help you. Keep it clean, and dry and move the leg as much as possible...keep it slightly elevated. use soft cushions and soft sponge and shift and alternate keeping the leg as comfortable as possible.

Re: So sorry you are going through this, Christy

You are young to have ulcers, I would be interested in the treatment my SIL is suffering, but progress is very slow she has  large one on her leg ,I think it runs in the family, she said it is like toothache in her ankle. Some folk seem to get anything they want over here, but it does not apply to everyone, it is the same old story, one has to push for it or even change to a more amicable doctor.Good luck

So sorry you are going through this, Christy

I am ashamed of a system that mistreats those who are already suffering. What a cruel mess healthcare in this country continues to be..I am waging battles too with my insurance company just for the right meds I need to breathe - can't really afford $500.00 per month every month out of pocket...
I pray you get that bed asap! Much light, healing and many hugs sent your way..
