Re: PS, Ace. Maggie chose a very fine title for her poem, didn't she!
I was just looking at the poem. At the bottom of the page, there is a note that says, "P.S., if you want to see Maggie perform this SONG, scan the barcode with your smartphone". So, this was a poem/song that Maggie wrote. I haven't done it yet but if I can I will post the video on here.

Re: aceblade
I think most of us know that we will never be able to "fix" the world, but, it does do magical things to one that tries to make things a little better. I don't think (personally) that there is another charity as worthy as this one. $20 a month can actually make a difference in a sick child's life. And unlike myself, these children haven't done anything to deserve an illness like they have. Thanks BC-A

What a powerful poem this is, themes that most if not all of us can relate to.

Re: PS, Ace. Maggie chose a very fine title for her poem, didn't she!
Yes, it is a perfect title. I give between $20-40 per month. Minimum is $19.99. I look at it this way, how often do I spend $20-50 if not more on things I don't need. Several years ago I saw the "St. Jude's" annual program on television. It touched me so deep that I truely didn't think if I could afford it or not. i told myself that I WOULD AFFORD IT. I have 3 young children and can't imagine one of them getting sick. I hope GOD doesn't test me in that way. St. Judes address is:
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
P.O. Box 50
Memphis TN 38101-9929
You can send a check or you can put your VISA, MC, AMEX or Discover info. (card # and expiration date with an authorization signature). You can have them deduct automatically from your account each month as well.

I ran off the poem and read it to Ginny and her aide. Now they want
to hear me read it to them the next few nights. How do you get me into these things!!We contributed regularly to St. Judes (we go all the way back to Danny Thomas!) until finances tightened up when we got the aides.
Maggie's poem was very moving (reminded me of my baldness when I got chemo for my pancreatic cancer three years ago). I read that bunch of recent re-posts. I especially liked the ones about the cat, the puzzle, and the parents.
I'm going to finish some Chinese takeout and go to bed. Hasta la vista.

This is wonderfully precious.
My son wasn't a child, he was almost 23 when he died of cancer,
but I felt/feel exactly the same about him. Now his son is 23 and his granddaughter is expected soon and I think even more about him then I ever did.
