Re: I just hate parking beside those great big bullies. Our car is tiny....

I  know.  They make your car, well, vulnerable.  And I dread the thought of one of them skidding out of control into my car!

Re: Re: A sociology teacher once told my class that a man's car is

I can think of 2 other reasons.  The most likely of the two is the desire to keep a loved spouse or teen safe in case of accident by surrounding them with more car than they really need.  A Humvee, of course, is that attitude writ large, very large.  The second isthe ugly ducklimg thing - it's SO homely that it needs love and gets it.  Remember that little open VW thing a few years ago that looked like Rommel's desert car or a weapons carrier, just pleading to be painted khaki and driven by someone with a monocle and leather overcoat?  The style came and went pretty quickly, as I recall.  Blessedly.   People who made WWII movies bought them up, though, it seems.

It certainly does make you wonder.

A sociology teacher once told my class that a man's car is

symbolic of his sexual proclivities. That is, he qualified the statement, if money is not the determinant. So if a guy with ample cash chooses a small, conservative car, then he has a small conservative attitude. If he's married and buys a convertible it means he wants to find a mistress. And if he buys the big flashy Cadillac, that means he loves comfort and luxury in all aspects of his personal life. Which leaves me confused about the little lady with the big Humvee. Is it her vehicle, or does it belong to some alpha male to whom she's connected?

Yes, your poems start the readers thinking, after they smile...

that pretty much describes the beast - I'm not a big fan of 4 x 4 vehicles and the hummer is the worst of them
