I've tried sonnets only twice, and neither one turned out very regular.  I haven't  given up, but they're hard!

Interesting way you used "rose" - isn't "A Rose for Emily" a Faulkner story?  I like the first one too. The second occurred to me this morning.  In doing a little parody of her poem, it occurred to me how hard it was to write sonnets like hers'  My hat's off to all sonnet writers!
