If poor people helped themselves, and realized that a poor man in America is a rich man in most other countries, we wouldn't have any poor. With all of the opportunities there are in this country only those who do not apply themselves, and the truly lazy are poor. I know because with only a high school education I have made over 7 million dollars, of course with only a high school education I also lost 7 million dollars, but even at 62 and unemployed I will make more millions of dollars before age 65. I learned this from my business, building vehicles for the disabled, there are some who are the old poor me kind of people and others who know no quit. There is no way to fail in this country if one is determined, works hard, and applies himself.

As much as that sounds like a valiant statement, the government just doesn't see it that way. They really don't want everybody to be well off, for ludicrous reasons too numerous to list here. Remember, there's no virtue if there's no sin.
