I imagine that it's the zoning laws as well...In Houston there are hardly any restrictions if any at all and it leads to some interesting situations.

I don't know a lot about mobile homes in America...they seem different
to Australia. It seems to me that you live in a two bedroom permanent home but pay rent for the land where it sits...ie a park, so to speak.But you own the home.
