you think the regular American listens and obeys the Catholic Clerical Hierarchy?
Do you? I am supposing that you are Baptist, and, as such, do have a problem with Catholicism.
It seems you are trying to say that American women think that the Catholic Clerical Hierarchy's stance on birth control and contraception are right. I wonder why so many take "the pill".

the issue is individual freedom
like Catholic institutions -- a lot of employees are non-Catholic and use birth control.
So if they want birth control, that's up to them, not a religion that wants to control their lives.
In fact, that is the issue -- whether or not religion controls the lives of those who don't adhere to it.
You get farther into that can of worms and you will discover that many religious beliefs would be diminished -- that a particularly narrow point of view would be forced upon all of us.
someone with religious views different from yours could then force you to adhere to those.
