Re: The NYC Department of Sanitation considers Feb. 14 the day when,
as a rule of thumb, the plows won't be needed any more. Like all such guesses with a load of salt, no pun intended.

It has been very mild out here Bob, but we have had many winters like that when I too looked forward to flowers and sunshine. We haven't had to call snowplows all winter.

In our neck of the woods, since it was close to seventy degrees
and sunny, they ran pictures from the blizzard of '82. That was quite a storm, shut down small towns and big cities for three days. A nurse from Belleville Memorial phoned that just nine months later there were 200 babies in their nursery, and new mothers in beds in the hall.
