Ha! I went to the Bitter End once... to hear The Irish Rovers!

Talk about deja-vu!

Re: It was magical! The Bitter End - and several blocks away the

little theaters for The Fantastiks and Dames at Sea - all very small and intimate.  Quite an experience!

that must have been a real experience to actually go there and hear those types of musicians.

Re: Do you still have folk music there?

Unfortunately, no - not as a popular thing, anyway.

Re: Well, young blogger, when you come on your visit, we'll

make a point of going to Greenwich Village, but I'm not taking you to the bitter end.

Re: It was real all right, and serendipity was the right word for it.

If I didn't know it was that kind of club, I'm not sure I'd be quick to agree on hearing the name. Then again, in the 60's, I think I agreed to everything with much enthusiasm! I do like what the poem is saying.

Was ignorance, in this case, bliss?

Nice Bob and an explanation was truly helpful for we young bloggers.

Wonderful!  I like the reality in this one

Interesting. You know that name Whisky-aGoGo reminded me

of something strange about The Bitter End - they had no cover charge and - maybe because they'd lost their liquour license - they served only expensive ice cream stuff!Very strange.

My favorite hangout, in the 60's anyway, was the Whiskey-A-Go Go in LA on sunset strip, but I do like the Irish Rovers and loved this poem of yours, it kind of hit the spot so to speak.

Re: If time travel were possible,

Yeah, I loved that stuff.  Someone explained its passing by saying it grew too self-righteous and preachy.  He has a point, but it's not the whole story.  Ever see the movie A Mighty Wind? It's a sendup - a bunch of folkies get together years later for a concert .It's really funny, but follows the writer's usual pattern (I can't remember his name) of suddenly getting nasty at the very end.  Two similar movies of his are Best in Show (about show dogs) and another about amateur theatricals.  I forget the title.

If time travel were possible,

I'd take myself to The Bitter End and listen to all those fabulous acts.
