While I consider myself to still be relatively young
I have to admit that as I get older, I discover that I am more at ease with me, I like myself better and I value those whom I love more than I used to do. Might not be a perfect life but it sure works for me.

I've always said I want to die on my feet, and when I do, don't give me no CPR.

That was so well done and like CCT's mom, we shouldn't have got old but dang, we did, well, I did. I don't think I have ever been this 'uptight' alone because I did it with such savoir-faire of a younger man of 65 after Joycie died. I was not afraid then, just clinically depressed. Now at 75, nearly 76, I have more 'fear', like fear of falling down the cellar stairs alone like the old lady that lived here before me did. Good post lovin' PatB, made my mind wander into 'old'.

'Don't ever get old young man.' I can still see her wrapped in a shawl standing on her cottage doorstep. Oh dear Pat why did I not take her advice.
