Mourning Splendour (updated)

What a powerful oxymoron in the title creating two contrasting colours.

Re: Re: When my dad died when I was 12, my mother called out

Yes, that is what gets us through and what I write is the one example of many. The dying of one is our own dying.

Re: When my dad died when I was 12, my mother called out

from the room to me, "Run to St. Philips and get Father Falotico! Something terrible happened!"  I ran, never for a moment letting myself realize what she meant.  After that I didn't run back home, but instead ran to the offices of the two doctors I knew.  I wanted a doctor to go up to the apartment. The first one was out on a call.  The second one wasn't, but his nurse listened to me spill my story and then sat me down so I could get my breath and said gently," Look, Bobby, your father's dead."

All of which means, I'm sorry for your loss.  At such times our custom is to sit around and share our stories.

This just about did me in for the day.
Sis was enrolled in Hospice today for the end of her journey,
for however long that will be.

The simplicity of this poem makes it very, very powerful.
