It is almost unbelievable to me that someone with that great lack of character could have reached that level of responsibility.

Sadly, it is nothing new, that incompetents rise to power.

Consider the kings, too young or too insane or too disinterested, who have worn crowns because their dads were kings.

I'd be interested to know how this man got the captaincy in the first place.  That he could, shows there is something deeply flawed in the system.

The more I read about him the less I like.

IT probably needs some kind of test on a person taking on the responsibility of so many lives. We can all be brave when we don't have to be. He should never had held such a positon.

I have read about this guy and he is a most despicable man! I am not buying it for one moment that he fell overboard! He is simply trying to cover his arse, but the truth shall prevail! And, if it is revealed that he caused this catastrophe to give the head waiter preference he should be jailed for the remainder of his life! Shelly

Nautikos

Lose his papers? That bastard ought to forfeit his life in the military fashion, with a bullet to his head. He has no brain anyway.Great post my friend.

What's done is done

The main problem for this coward now is that, no matter what happens to him legally, he will never, ever be able to remove this incident from anyone's mind, like the proverbial albatross dangling from his neck, for the rest of his life. But you can't judge a whole group for the actions of a few . . . the bulk of the cruise ship captains, just like airline pilots and train engineers, are faithful workers, dedicated professionals, and decent people. These are isolated incidents.

You're right, Naut.

He has proven himself to be a tiny little man in whom trust was entirely misplaced.

Naut...

As I have mentioned, a cruise ship would be a terrifying place, in the dark, listing, taking on water, those people needed help. That captain should be made an example for all cruise lines captains, an example of what not to do.
