Re: Actually, the nickname I hated as a kid was "Sonny".
It didn' help that we had an Irish friend in his 40's who went by "Sonny Thomas."

Broadway Joe had a rough go when he was just a boy.
But he grew up, that brave little pup, and gave a lot of joy.
I apologize for the horrible doggerel, but your haiku was so cool and so surprising the words just fell out of my fingers. :)
