Yes, at the state level.

Re: I think it will pass FSI

referendum? You're talking about at the state level?   There is no method of referendum on the Federal level.......referendums are emotional tools reflecting the temperment of a group at a specific moment.......is a sense, mob rule.  We live in a Republic which supersedes this "democratic" ideal in favor of representation.

I think it will pass FSI

and I think it will go to referendum. I don't think it should be subject to referendum though. Referendum's should be reserved for things that affect everyone like roads and taxes.

I wonder if it's going to get passed in our state though if it does I imagine that it'll go to referendum.

connect the dots for me Corbin
How do gay couples getting marriage impact everyone?

posted by jollyjeff on January 6, 2012 at 8:45 AM | link to this | reply

Since this erodes away at the mores of our social order, it impacts everyone.   The family unit (Man, woman, children) has been around since the beginning of the human race.

Why does something have to harm someone else physically, financially, personally....whatever, to be wrong.   Based on your premise....there nothing wrong with a man and a sheep hooking up.  How about a man being allowed a dozen wives?

No harm, no foul works fine on the basketball court....but not with our social order.

Just a further erosion of our country moral fabric.

It certainly would open up an entirely new batch of people to be sucking  (no pun intended)off the public teat.   Benefits, benefits, benefits........

Civil unions is more than sufficient.......

Probably better if they don't have children, if they are happy. Some do not want sex,

just companionship or shared interests.

It's clear cut to me Kabu

Millions would benefit from same sex marriage and not a soul would be harmed.

To me this is a hige ethical question which means that there may not be any

hard and fast answer that will hold up in serious debate. Ethical because it sits in the gray areas of life, for example...

Is a child born into or adopted into a same sex marriage disadvantaged?

is a child living in a single parent family...in the middle of divorce, a mixed religion family, an abusive family situation any better advantaged?
