- Go to MY E.T. AND MY NIGHTMARES

There are times when the show will go on in spite of out readiness! This is a fine poem, too! sam

Re: I'm sure my ol' E.T. is tapping into a dark part of me I'm
definitely not ready for! But I tell myself that being unprepared in dreams is better than being unprepared in life. Sounds good, anyway. Thank for the visit!

Well, maybe E.T. should go home in this case, and not bother you with insecure, ill-prepared thoughts again. I have had such dreams before myself and they can be unsettling. Or maybe E.T. is reflecting something in your unconcious mind that you feel unprepared for. Great Poem!

Re: They are! I'm sure a shrink could make a lot out of them - hidden
insecurities, and all. Thank God they don't come around all that often.

Nothing ruins sleep so much as poor dreams and those sound bad indeed.

Re: But, CC, my Evil Twin says my thumbprints are all over it! What's
more, he keeps asking why I don't write about the REALLY interesting dreams: the erotic ones, the ones I don't WANT to wake up from. I have no answer for that except that they're too infrequent.

Re: I had a hateful bad dream last night and it has stayed with me all day
Yes, Kabu, they certainly CAN be like that. They sometimes make you visit places you don't want to go! I've HEARD that researchers say we deliberately FORGET the
REALLY uncomfortable parts of our dreams (interesting, but how could they PROVE that?)

Re: Ridicule may well be the answer - I hadn't thought of it
exactly that way. FEAR of ridicule may be even closer because the dreamed scene never quite gets to its humiliating conclusion e.g. actually screwing up on stage when the lights go up, or seeing the classroom rebellion in full bloom. It's fear that your best and trusted skills are not enough or being mocked. It's very nasty and unpleasant - like there really IS a talented fiend out there who knows you all too well!
As for getting rid of the E.T., I think he's out of control. I remember once having a DELIGHTFUL dream that I deliberately.tried to replicate - no dice.

Well I am not going to reply to this, until the real Bob puts his thumb print on the poem

If ever you come up with a way to get rid of that twin, please let me in on it!! Is ridicule, especially resulting from being unprepared, our greatest fear, you think?
