Thank you, TAPS

And yes - I know that I was blessed to have had them...any many others who are still here. I hope the same for you - a wonderful New Year for you and yours!

That has been happening to me too, Kabu.

And as you say, it can never be predicted. The day away from it all did me good...I think...and Suzie did understand, of course.

Thank you, Nautikos, and I wish the same for you.

It is difficult to be be festive when we have lost or ailing loved ones on our minds. I really hope your brother is doing better.

Sam, you are right too

Suzie did understand - she sounded even as if she was expecting it. Sorry about missing the game - even if I didn't go for the brandy, I was still in a bit of a mental haze that whole day & evening.

Much too soon, Pat_B.

My son told me last night that he has already taken care of next year. He has invited all his friends (the bunch of 8 lads who were practically raised at home, who knew and loved Bird too) to celebrate the arrival of 2013 out here in the bush with me. It makes sense. Happy New Year to you too!!

I just love both of those photos.  How blessed you have been to have had them in your life for all the time that you did.  May your New Year bring blessings and happiness to you and your family.

Good decision I believe, Sizie will be fine and the last thing you would

want is to be sobbing into a beer with everyone around blowing silly whistles and kissing strangers.  That break down may come but it can never be predicted. For me and a long time after my Dad died, it was something on the car radio...and I had to pull out of the traffic to a side street and just bawl.

I was still here when you lost Bud, and I understood your pain. But while of course I stayed away from Blogit for most of the year, I will tell you that I often thought of your brother Bird and you, hoping that he was alright.

When I finally came back and saw no reference to him, I sensed what had happened, but didn't want to bring it up. However, let me tell you now how very sorry I am, and I fully understand that you do not feel like celebrating much. Actually, I am not in a very festive mood either - I also have a far-away but much-loved brother who is not doing very well at all...

You are a courageous lady, and I love your irrepressible smile! And I wish you a Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year anyway...

I know Suzie will be disappointed but I am sure she will understand! It would be tough for you! Time is a great healer but getting there is so difficult! You know what is best for you and that's what you should do! Now, don't forget we have a game tonight and the Habs need a win! Happy New Year to you too! I like the way you have chosen to celebrate, I think it will be good for your soul! Dang the luck on the money situation from last year but medical is so costly! Bird was a special man so hold him close to you and I know you will be okay in the end! And Bud, who could ever forget him, what a dog! I so loved that series you shared with us! GO HABS! sam

You're right. It's too soon.

But next year, if all the predictions are wrong and the world doesn't end, you can welcome 2013 with your old friends and celebrate Bird's life with stories and a big smile. Nice to see your today's photos, sad but nice. Happy new year.
